Inspirational Sunday

Here are just a couple that have really struck me lately, now let your minds feast upon it too:

"You are daughters of the Almighty. Limitless is your potential. Magnificent is your future if you will take control of it." -President Gordon B. Hinkley

"We are such stuff as dreams are made on." -Prospero from The Tempest by William Shakespeare

Do not be afraid. Look only at the positive. Just do it.

cheers.

These things really have mattered most

All I can say is wow. Has it really already been two years since I started college? Am I really 20 already? Am I really at the place that I am at? I guess the answer is yes. Here I am at that moment in time when I blink in astonishment that I am already on to the next big thing in my life. But I do not want to continue without first remembering all the moments that have truely mattered most and have made me into a happier completed person.

1. I finally have my associates! Yup I walked with it last Saturday in my blue gown waving good-bye to those foundations I will never have to do again!
2. I have turned the big 20. But do not fear, I can use the excuse of this is my first year in adulthood so I still make stupid mistakes and it be ok.
3. I gained some pretty good friendships. You are meant to meet everyone one for a reason. I surely did meet and live with two of the most special girls. Kylynn and Erin are the smartest, most hard working and loving roommates I have yet lived with. I shared with them some of the most tender moments I have yet lived. We cared, laughed, cried and rode our bikes into horizon together. We shook our fists at responsibility and we encouraged each other to be diligent. Who needs to go shopping when you have an Erin to trade clothes with who tells you how pretty you look that day? How can I ask for a better adventure buddy than Kylynn? I owe them a lot for teaching me how to be stronger, laugh at things more and just plain old be me. Thanks ladies for loving me. You two hold a very dear place in my heart.
4. Ran the midnight 5K, Bolder Boulder 10K, and finished a Lazy man Iron man.
5. Learned how to batik, knit, embroider, sew plaid shirts, hoodies, dress pants and quilt.
6. I went to the beautiful Colorado and Utah and gained some amazing memories.
7. Discovered a new food group called frozen yogurt
8. Had a hands down awkward moment when stubbling upon the hidden park my roommates were set on finding and almost walking over a couple making out. You can say I did not get to go on the merry-go-round that night...
9. Educated the roommates on the importance of washing strawberries before you eat them: because [Mexican] pee is all over them- I wouldn't wash my hands either if I was out there.
10. Saw little ducklings on one of the many rides to nature park
11. Learned first hand that beach cruisers do not belong on skate parks no matter how dark it is outside with no one else to see you biff but your good friend (also happened at mentioned skate park)
12. Slept in a tent in the side yard of our house (benefit of living in a moldy basement of a house, you get yards!)
13. Tasted fried coke. Yes it can be fried. No it is not actual soda, it is flavored batter.
14. I learned how to live hard and to love hard.

Sadly, I said some goodbyes to sweet, dear friends whom I will not see for awhile. But that is ok, I know I will see them again soon. But to all those going on missions for the Church I wish you luck and possibly I will see you out there. Those of you continuing with school, good luck becoming a dang blasted genius. Those of you having finished school, have fun being an adult in the real world, I wish you success.

cheers. xoxo.

Moments that truely mattered

This reminded me of all the wonderful moments that I have been blessed with to experience. Remember life is exciting because you simply get to live it.

the spinning philosophy

We are now getting to the fun things in my textiles class. The first was day of learning new skills was last Thursday and we had a lady come teach us to spin and weave yarn! It was soo cool! Seriously, I could see myself doing this. The whole class got to try out the loom and weave part of this rug/blanket, but only I and another girl were brave enough to try the wheel. As my turn approached I was feeling confident until the wool was put in my hand and the wheel started turning. I thought I handled it pretty well until the nice lady stopped me pulled out my cord I just spun and held it up. She asked me if I knew what it was, I looked at her with a blank stare. She called it a telephone cord and promptly asked if I knew what that meant in the spinner's world. I replied no and she gave me the meaning of the telephone cord in your spun wool. A cord means that I like to have control in life. She then told me how to fix this problem: relax, chill and let things go. But it doesn't end there. In another class, we were talking about how to keep in mind that each day is a puzzle piece to the eternity (based off of Uchtdorf's talk). We discussed the importance of praying on your knees every morning and night and keeping an open prayer in your heart through out the day. Then the second piece of advice I received to keep the puzzle piece perspective was to relax, chill and let things go. Exact. Same. Word. Use. Ok, Ok! I get it! I need to relax, chill and let things go. Well come life I am ready to chill, relax and let things go.

p.s. I am learning how to knit! Yellow scarf here I come!

Inspirational Sunday!

“God is looking for people through whom He can do the impossible.
What a pity when we plan only the things we can do by ourselves.”

-A.W. Tozer

Remember your potential, you come from somewhere great. Don't loose yourself to this world of nonsense and superficial needs. Love yourself. Love others. Love God our Heavenly Father and His only begotten son, Jesus Christ. And do His will. Just do it, and everything becomes possible.

This Too Shall Pass

This Too Shall Pass By N.L. Frisby

When sorrow comes into your life and threatens to destroy the very thing you treasure most, Your happiness and joy and when that crushing power threatens everything worthwhile and clouds of darkness gather and you find it hard to smile; Then lift your head and let the world, hear every word you say with faith undaunted say to them: “this too shall pass away.” When you are over-burdened with life’s toil and earthly care; when life becomes so dreary it seems more then you can bear; When weariness o’er-comes you, and you yearn for peaceful rest, and trials of the day leave you, discouraged and depressed; there is no song within your heart; You feel you cannot pray; then turn your thoughts to gladness for “this too shall pass away.” When you are over-burdened with life’s oil and earthy cure; When life becomes so dreary It seems more then you can bear; When weariness o’er-comes you, and you yearn for peaceful rest, and trials of the day leave you discouraged and depressed; There is no won within your heart; You feel you cannot pray; Then turn your thoughts to gladness for “this too shall pass away.” When fortune smiles upon you, and your cup of Joy is full; When everything you want is yours, and life seems wonderful, When days and weeks go flitting by with happiness replete; And you desire nothing more to make your life complete; Beware lest all these treasures of this earth lead you astray and hear again these truthful words; “this too shall pass away.”And so remember well these words, whatever your lot may be, For life is ever changing – with such rapidity; Our gladness turns to sadness, when the sunshine disappears, and sorrows change to happiness when God has calmed our fears, compared with all eternity, this life is but one day, we cling to life, and yet we know “this too shall pass away.”
