We're going on an adventure!

On behalf of rememberance of my nephew's birthday, I thought I would share this silly little picture :] He is an avid fan of Star Wars, so I thought it befitting.

It is strange. This is the first Mother's day weekend I am not home. It's strange because this is the day we celebrate my mom and three births of family members! (one dear sister, and two extaordinary nephews) My family really does come first in my life and I am missing all the loudness our gatherings bring! I love you familia!

But this weekend was an adventurous one! I sure did keep busy! Friday I got to put my newly learned ballroom dancing skills to the test, and sometimes I failed and got my toes stomped on but other times I glided around the room in a wonderful waltz! I love the fact that the LDS faith is so diverse in dancing abilities.

Then comes Saturday. To relieve the stress of the week, my roommate and I explored the near by train tracks, swung on the haunted swings and hiked the R mountain. It was a very eventful trip and we have pictures to prove it.

I made a presentation on Madeleine Vionnet. She is known as the "queen of the bias cut" and "the archetect of dressmaking". She hated the whimsical trends of the fashion industry yet she was the most influential designer of the 20th century. She wanted to stay true to enhancing woman's natural beauty. She perfected the art of matching fabric to flow and enhance woman's movement. Vionnet is my favorite designer hands down, she revolutionized the fashion industry.
She was inspired by dances of Isadora Duncan and Grecian art. That is why her dresses are so fluid. She was a true genius with clothing.

Learned today that you have to look at the world with love. If you want to feel loved you have to love also. Christ loved everyone and so should we. I promise it will make all the difference if you are open to and give love.

Yesterday, Kylynn had the idea to go hike R Mountain. I was all for it too! So her brother, sister, her and I went to that mountain for an adventure. Oh what an adventure we got! While we were hiking we pretty much hiked right into a cloud, which in turn welcomed us with snow and hail! After we treked up the steep mountain we ran/slid/jumped down the mountain in the snow. And with the concoction of the snow and mud it looked like an Oreo cookie pizza from Craigos! :] There was a point on the mountain going down that I stopped and my breath was taken away on how majestic the scene was before me. You could see for miles but it was nothing but fields, more mountains and the occasional lone house. If you held still for a minute you could just feel the elements around you. It was peaceful. It was like a little piece of heaven on earth. After we made it back down alive, we got to capture the beauty of a delightful sunset.

It started to hail/snow half way up, but we are adventure seekers, and this only added to our thrill. I do realize I am making a frowny-face, it was all part of the fun!^

Hello Idaho! I am here and loving it with all my heart (and I mean that with sincerity)! I am enjoying the company of my room-roommate Kylynn and I am truely grateful to be living with Amanda. Amanda and I have too funny of adventures together, I swear people think we are insane! We will just go off quoting random videos and talk in absurd accents all day long. She is the best friend I can ask for :] Even though my family does like to talk about her more then about me when I am on the phone with them.....
I have been introduced to so many new, wonderful people and activities. I am learning to poly dance(aka the hula and tahitian and samonian dancing. I will soon be shaking my hips like I was born in Hawaii)!
I have to say I am very grateful to be back up here, don't fret family and friends I do miss that part of Arizona! Especially when I talked to my family at Tatum's birthday party yesterday. It is still weird to me not to be there on family gatherings.....I miss the loudness!
My classes are going swell too. I love my public speaking class already. My teacher's name is Elizabeth Bossard, but she goes by "Boss". On the first day of class she entered the room singing "GOOD MORNING!" She is a an interesting character and looks like the fairy-godmother off of Shrek :]
I got to experience the sand dunes here the other night and played spoons with glow sticks in the dark. That was a ton of fun! And you know it was a good night when you reek of campfire the next morning.
In other news, I was going to post pictures up of my room, unfortunantly my memory card just decided to break. So as soon as i get another I will update with pictures!

I have wonderful friends and family. All very artsy in their own ways and I appreciate them very much. I would like to take this time and acknowledge just a VERY FEW who have brighten my day.

She is the one that introduced me to etsy and encouraged me to be creative with making random knick-knacks. She is my partner for making headbands and creating useful things out of 99 cent finds on Monday at Savers. I do believe bargain shopping is an art, and she is Da Vinci at it.

She is an astounding photographer. You know how the saying goes, a truely good photograph steals a piece of someone's soul, well she does just that (not in a creepy way). She has the ability to capture the beauty and personality of everyone she aims her lense at.

My wonderful nieces and nephews.
They remind me everyday to find the beauty and delight in every moment of life from making Elvis-faced ice cream cones to singing silly songs. The girls (B and Ta)have introduced the color purple into my elaborate list of favorite things.

She is the one that ignited the love of sewing in my life by always making me clothes. She just made me another skirt!

Lastly, I would like to say, Count your blessings. Everything that is given to you in life is a blessing, even if it is disguised. You can either be cynical or grateful. I'm learning that you need to just be grateful.

Why can't I get a degree in Random??

It's set in stone now. I know where I'm going to live, who I'm going to live with, when and how I am getting there, the classes I'm taking, and I have a slight idea what I'm taking up with me.

But........

I just made a list of things I want to learn and do! And I want to learn and do them right now!
